Cage-free hotel and day care for your dog

Fila & Floyd offers a custom built cage-free hotel and day care for small / medium and some well socialised larger breed dogs.
The hotel is completely cage free; our doggy guests can freely move between our indoor and outdoor spaces.
Indoor we have 3 big living rooms with custom built dog beds, fans, heaters and many windows to look out onto the gardens.
Outside we have a wrap around garden with jungle gyms to climb on, shell pools to swim in and ball runs for some active play.

We have an experienced team who will care for your fur child 24/7. We follow a structured daily routine with dedicated play times, but also nap times to ensure for sufficient rest and relaxation.

Our unique, cage-free environment is unfortunately not suitable for all doggy friends and due to space constraints we are limited to the number of larger, more active dogs that we can take per day.
To ensure that your pup is comfortable in our environment we do an assessment day where we assess for any signs of aggression, strong dominant behaviour, major anxiety, obedience and strength versus our smaller female caretakers, excessive barking and energy levels. These assessment criteria are very important to ensure a safe and happy environment for all doggy guests.

After many assessments done we compiled a general list of dog breeds and cross breeds of these that unfortunately do not do well in our environment: Pit bulls, Bull terriers, Malinois, Dobermann, Boerboel, German Shepherds, Ridgebacks, Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Huskies, Boxers, Bullmastiff, Russian Terriers, American Bulldog, German pointers (Wired-haired & shorthair), Weimaraners, Dalmatians, Australian Cattle dog / Australian shepherd, Saint Bernards, Airedale Terriers, Chow-Chow, Shar-Pei, Cane Corso, Irish Wolfhound, Great Dane, Wire-haired Griffon and Border Collies.
Our environment is not suitable for dogs (big and small) that show any form of aggressive behaviour towards other dogs or people, dogs that have excessive energy levels and / or excessive strength, dogs with excessive barking behaviour, dogs that need extreme exercise requirements and / or special handling requirements.

We are happy to welcome any dog for our assessment day if the owner believe that the dog will pass all the assessment criteria.

CHECK-IN & OUT TIMES AND VIEWING OF OUR FACILITY

We are open 06h30 - 18h00 Monday to Sunday. We do however prefer to have sleepover dogs to check-in at least by 16h00 to give them some time to settle-in before bedtime.
​
Our daycare are closed over long weekends and from the 15th of December until the 5th of January each year.​
​
Viewing of our facility can be arranged and is done strictly by appointment only.

HEALTH & SAFETY:
​​
Our hotel is cleaned and disinfected daily and deep cleaned once per week, hygiene and cleanliness are of utmost importance to ensure a disease free environment. We use pine gel for general cleaning, VET recommended F10 disinfectant, Pro-Bac Stain & Odour remover for spot cleaning and Probac Bin cleaner for all our poop bins.
Each doggy guests will also receive a daily formal health check to ensure that we pick-up early warning signs and act on it immediately.

Important, we strictly only give medication with consent from the owner. Any concerns regarding your dogs health will be communicated with you before next steps are taken. We will however act immediately in case of life and death. We make use of Monument Park Vet or Waterkloof Vet which is around the corner from us.

VACCINATIONS & STERILISATION REQUIRED:

Due to our unique cage free environment, we do require all dogs to be sterilised after 8 months of age. If your female dog goes into heat before 8 months, we will only be able to accommodate her after sterilisation.
Fila and Floyd requires dogs to be free of any contagious disease or condition and the following vaccinations and treatments must be done before check-in;

5-in-1 Booster vaccination at least 10 days before check-in, valid for 12 months

Rabies vaccination at least 10 days before check-in, valid for 24 months

Bordetella Bronchiseptica (Kennel cough) vaccination at least 3 days before check-in, valid for 12 months.

All dogs must be regularly treated against fleas, ticks and worms

Please note that we can only take puppies after they had their second set of 5-in-1 booster vaccine and at least one rabies vaccine.
